What to Know About High Definition Antennae TV and HD Satellite TV for PC
Receiving HDTV on Your Analog Television
Let me start by saying that any television would be able to receive the new high definition format channels with less interruptions using a new high definition rooftop antennae with a rotor box controller . A signal booster is optional but they would increase the distance that your antennae can gather stations from and therefor the number of channels you`ll receive as well.
Older analog televisions which use a rooftop or rabit ears antennaes are now able to receive high defenition signals provided by local television stations by using a high definition converter box, giving you extra tv stations never available before the change in the delivery to the new high def signal.
These extra stations are free and transmitted over the airwaves to anyone who has the proper converter and antennae hardware. The extra channels are a welcome addition with classic movies and shows they offer. Just about every network is broadcasting more than one channel by piggie backing signals into digits (e.g 2.1 , 2.2 , 4.1 , 4.2 ) and these extra channels (e.g. 2.2 , 4.2)are not available any other way.
Problems With the New High Defenition Signal When Using an Antennae
1-The limited number of channels you receive and the number of channels you recive is dependent on your location and the distance you`re located in relation to each television`s stations transmiters location.
2-Just like Satellite TV if there is a storm anywhere between your location and the location of the signals transmitter your viewing will be interrupted, which in cases of severe storms makes no sense to me because you won`t be able to receive any warnings after a storm hits your area, if a tornado popped up how would you know to take shelter?
High Definition Converter Boxes
These converter boxes will cost you anywhere from $40-$90 and will extend the life of your older analog television for years. They convert high definition feeds to a digital quality analog format which allows for viewing on just about any older analog television.
New HDTV `s and PC`s Using High Defenition Antennae
New high definition tv`s have the converter built right in saving you the expense of having to purchase the converter separately, the picture is top notch but the drawback here is that they are expensive, and there are limits to the number of channels you can receive because of distances(as mentioned above).
Another way of receiving high definition antennae television is to install a good HDTV converter card in your computer (prices start around $40). Using these cards you`ll be able to receive the same channels you would using a regular HD television. All you need to do is run a lead wire from your antennae and hook it to the newly installed card and run the software they supply.
If you have 1080p or 1080i running on your television or computer screen you`ll be able to see the excellent quality of using an antennae these days. Most channels are 480i or 720p but you do get quite a few networks now broadcasting 1080p.
Picture quality for televisions and computer work the same way, the higher resolution your tv or computer can acheive the better it is for your viewing.
Satellite TV for PC
Anyone who owns a computer and has a internet connection can get this service with only one payment of $30-$50. These programs usually have one or two downloadable programs to install and they offer a multitude of channels for you to choose from, the number of channels advertized are always in the thousands.
Satellite tv for pc programs offer some excellent choices for viewing and, when you think of how much programming you receive for the money you pay - it`s a steal.

i don't use a ps3, but you might want to try changing the settings the ps3 in stead of just the tv. maybe the ps3 is set to 1080i and that causes the tv to change to it
