Picture quality on the Panasonic is where this TV shows it mettle. I even have the set attached within the following manner. My LG Blu-ray player and Nintendo Wii are attached to my Onkyo receiver, that is in flip hooked into the Panasonic via HDMI. The Blu-ray is hooked into the receiver using HDMI and also the Wii using composite video. For cable, i exploit the RF/coaxial input. i'm not a videophile and tweaked the image menu myself where I settled on the Vivid setting with some changes to create it significantly less vivid (usually I hate vivid mode however i prefer it on this set). I notice the image appearance best after I leave the automated adjustment for ambient lightweight on. I even have the TV set-up to point out ninety fifth of the image where the sides are cropped off therefore i do not read any image breakdown at the picture's edge. Watching any high definition content, be it Blu-ray, cable TV, or streaming Netflix, the image appearance its best with nice detail and clarity (this is very true when watching Blu-ray discs). hi, finally bought a new panasonic veira 50 inch plasma tv.
i've been reading through some of the questions here and they keep talking about break-in and from surfing through them i couldn't really get a constant answer. do i need to change the settings of the picture quality to something specific? please let me know... and since it's still new... is it bad to watch like blu-ray movies cause most of the blu-ray movies i watch which in the correct screen format have black bars on the top and on the bottom... will that be bad for the screen like image retention or something? do i have to change it to full mode where i expand the movie to the whole screen ?(which i hate cause its not the correct size) or do i have to wait for 100 hours before i watch it normally...thanks
On the newer plasmas burn in, ghosting, etc, do not exist anymore. New technologies have all but solved those problems. No concerns there. The black bars or letterbox will not damage your TV.
The 100 hours you are referring to is the break in period, which is more about 200 hours. The reasons:
1. Exercise the phosphors in the plasma TV
2. Ensure the TV is in working order.
After the 200 hours you then want to calibrate your TV to optimal settings.
