What is HDMI?
High Definition Multimedia Interface or HDMI is an interface utilized for audio/visual equipment like home theater systems and high definition television. With 19 cables wrapped in a cable that looks like a Universal Serial Bus wire, High Definition Multimedia Interface is able to hold a bandwidth of 5 Gigabytes per second. Though Type A or standard HDMI has 19 cables, Type B will have 29 cables. The last is aimed for the motion picture business and some professional applications. HDMI card that also transmits audio?
I need an HDMI card for my dads PC for him to hook up to his flat screen/surround so he can watch netflix ect but I only want to use the HDMI cord to transmit both Audio & Video over, is this possible? Any suggestions on products if so?
On a budget and the PC is only a P4 2.8Ghz with 1GB of ram so nothing big is needed.

When you say 'HDMI Card', what you're really asking for is a graphics card (with an HDMI output). The graphics card provides the video (+ audio for HDMI graphics cards) output and also generates 3D computer graphics (e.g. for video games) and also provides GPU accelerated playback of HD video (with compatible software) so it doesn't hog up your CPU.

Note that your PC is quite old, and it may not even have a PCIe x16 card slot that modern graphics cards require. Instead it may have an AGP port, in which case, you will have to look for much older AGP graphics cards, however I don't imagine very many AGP graphics cards will have a native HDMI port.
Note that the headphone jack on the PC can be connected to a '3.5 mm to RCA' adapter so that you can connect the PC audio to the TV or Surround Sound system without needing HDMI. The disadvantage is you are limited to 2 channel audio.
