Xbox 360 Optimal Resolution?
Well my 50 inch Phillips just broke and I had traded my Xbox 360 for a model with HDMI hoping for a change in quality. Well since the first tv broke I used my other 32 inch Phillips (1366×768) and hooked up the Xbox via HDMI. I go to display settings and choose optimal resolution and it chooses 1080p. I switched it to all 4 of my HDMI ports and still the same thing. Please someone tell me why it isn’t choosing 1360×768. I’ve seen other people achieve this over HDMI. ALSO I hooked up my computer via Hdmi and I chose 1366×768 through the nvidia panel and it looked like a cartoon. Then I chose 1920×1080 and it “zoomed out” and I got more screen realestate.
Then the Philips TV is either inaccurately adverising it’s resolution via HDMI to the devices, or you’re doing something wrong.
If you’re really sure your Display is 1360×768, then choose 720p for the best possible picture quality.

Can I pick up HDTV channels thru my cable provider w/o a HD box?
Basically what i would like to know is: My hdtv has a built-in tuner and I have cable service to my apartment. I see that some particular shows on cable are presented in HD. So my question is can i just plug in the cable coax into the back of my HDTV and get an HD picture as long as that particular show is being broadcast in HD? Or do i have to get a HD box through the cable company?
If your TV has a QAM tuner, then you can connect the cable to the TV and you can watch any non-encrypted digital TV they have. Usually, this is limited to the local over the air digital channels, including HDTV. Not all TVs, particularly older ones, have QAM tuners. Hook-up the cable and do a channel scan if you can’t find the specs for your TV.

Gateway Plasma TV Help?
I have a 42 inch flat plasma screen television and when i turn my tv on, there is a 1 inch black line to the left of the screen. Is there something i can do by myself, should i go to somebody to try and fix it, or should i trash it and get a new one. I got it 4 years ago and i paid about 4 thousand dollars. I would like to get it fixed but if i have to get a new one, then i geuss i will.

If you got four years from this tv you are lucky. Gateway imported a bunch of junk tvs that were trouble. Waste no more money on this tv.

Personally I would recommend Samsung,great picture quality.But if you want cheaper one Panasonic is an excellent choice.

How do I hook my macbook pro up to my Phillips HDTV?
i have one of the new macbook pros. i also have a fairly new phillips hdtv. i hooked a blue computer cord up to the laptop adapter and hooked it into the tv in the slot. can anyone tell me how to make it show up on the tv. it says on the PC screen that i need to put the computer display on 1920×1080 but when i go to display the highest one is 1440×900. is there any way to fix this?
Blue computer cord? Did you connect the DVI out on the MBP to the DVI in on the TV? Did you choose that as the input in the TVs menu? After that, try pressing the F7 key to change modes between screen spanning and screen mirroring.
