i have a sharp lcd HDTV 32" with resolution 1366 by 768......?
ok i had it next to my dads 50 " sony it blew it away the sharp had the best picture for a whole lot less money but his was plugged in with componet and mine was plugged in with hdmi they both where outputing in 720p it said so....... i switched the cables around and now they both say 1080i and i think my tv looks better now with componet than it did with hdmi.....whats with all this i thought hdmi was better and why are the tvs outputing better now when all i did was switch the cables
Tons of factors involved. I'll try and comment on them.
1. Your Sharp probably looked better than his Sony because it is smaller. You didn't say how close you were standing, but I'll assume 5 feet. At this distance, you would notice the individual pixels on a 50" screen, so it would not look as sharp.
2. Your Sharp may have looked better using component cables because your component input may have been calibrated better. HDMI is known (or at least I've read it) for color issues. You won't get a full comparision until you adjust the picture for both inputs.
3. How much older is the Sony to the Sharp. Even if the Sony is a couple years old, it may have been surpassed by better and cheaper TVs.
