What is the simplest way for me to use a dvr just as an antenna user?
I want to stop paying for satellite service. I have an HDTV and just want to know the most basic way to record shows (preferrably more than one at a time). I know there's TiVo--but is there a stand-alone DVR I can buy? Then do I just need to buy a digital antenna and I'm good to go??? Do I need a phone line--I only have a stand-alone dsl line for computer use. Thanks--I appreciate your input!

You could buy a DTVPAL ($300), it has dual over the air digital tuners, no phone line needed, and no monthly fee.
The series 3 & 4 Tivos also have dual over the air digital tuners and you can use the DSL to connect it (no phone line needed), but unless you pay an additional $399 for "lifetime service", there is a monthly or yearly fee.
Or you could add two TV tuners to a computer and use it as a DVR.
I think the Tivos are the nicest. The question is, is it worth the extra price to you?
