Vga Extender: Vga Signal Extension Over Category Cables

VGA video extension between the source and output devices even when they are placed at a considerable distance from each other is made possible by using a VGA Extender. A type of video extender, this device relays video signal between the source and destination devices. The two are connected via standard category cables, thereby eliminating the need for bulky VGA cables. The innovative technology used by these extenders also overcomes the distance limitations associated with other cables. Consisting of a sender and receiver unit, with the former connected to the computer and the latter to the remote peripherals, this extension device operates on plug and play functionality. Installation is simple with no requirement of additional software or device drivers.

Due to the cables used for connection, an alternate name given to this device is CAT5 VGA Video Extender. These devices support a resolution of 1900 x 1200 and provide crisp and clear images. They are compatible with various operating systems and provide equalization and video signal gain adjustment. Key features include the ability to increase the signal strength and provide output without signal degradation. Powered using the included 12V power supplies, some models of these extenders include 2, 4 or 8 ports and can have optional stereo audio, infra red or RS232 control. Most popular amongst all categories of the video extension units, this extender is also available in a wireless format that allows a VGA Display device to be located up to 200 feet away from the source.

This wireless VGA Video Extender transmits the video signals over Wi-Fi channels and has the ability to provide secure access and control of the infrastructure of any organization. For the purpose of security, this product has a session log in and is Wi-Fi WEP protected. The built in DHCP server acts as an access point, if it is set up as a stand alone device whereas when it is connected to a network, it defaults to the existing DHCP server, thus providing greater installation flexibility. In arenas where the video inputs need to be sent to multiple remote output devices, such as in digital signage applications, waiting rooms, airports, conference and training facilities, the VGA Extender devices are an ideal piece of hardware.
