The JBL Radial Micro Speaker provides full-sound audio capabilities in minimal package – for a minimal price.
The JBL Radial Micro Speaker is only a bit larger than the average human hand, measuring only 20 x 20 x 9 centimetres. This not only allows one to transport the device with ease; the JBL Radial Micro Speaker will fit easily atop any desk or bookshelf – and at around 80£, an excellent value.
The JBL Radial Micro Speaker is essentially a miniaturised version of the full-sized Radial, featuring the same smashing design. Because of its reduced size however, it is completely appropriate for the office or one’s flat.
Obviously, there are some differences between the JBL Radial Micro Speaker and the full-sized version; these are primarily differences of degree, however. The JBL Radial Micro Speaker has smaller, less powerful speakers generating only one-third of as much as the larger device. In addition, one is liable to find the treble range more pleasing than the bass. Midrange quality is nonetheless excellent, as is its stereo separation.
One feature offered by the speaker that is lacking in the full-sized Radial is the set of Universal Dock inserts than enable those who own older iPod models to enjoy the full capability of this sound device.
The speaker’s capabilities are nonetheless extensive; it can be used in conjunction with any number of media devices that include your iPod, CD player, .mp3 player, personal computer and even your digital television (via the special RCA-type connector).
What one may not immediately appreciate about the JBL Radial Micro Speaker is its innate intelligence. Operation is exceptionally simple; touch controls are employed for raising or lowering volume levels, and the device itself recalls the last volume setting automatically – even when it is shut down. Libraries, track selection and additional settings are controlled with the use of a remote control, so you can choose your preferred settings from across the room. In addition, this device allows you to charge the battery of your iPod whilst it is docked if you choose to operate it from a wall outlet in conjunction with your iPod wall charger.
