Projection TV Double Image

Faded Color & double imaging, Samsung HD Ready 61″ RPTV?

I have a Samsung Rear Projection TV Model# PCJ614RF that I purchased in 2000. It has been a great unit with no problems and great picture quality. On Super Bowl Sunday !! the picture instantly changed. The colors seem faded, there is double/shadow imaging in yellow and blue.

I was told by a neighbor I probably need a new bulb. When I have called around and asked about a replacement bulb, I had a couple of technical terms like convergeance thrown at me, I am not familiar with the tech terms and need it explained to me as simple as possible.

What could be the problem? Is it hard to fix? Is it worth it?

Sounds like the convergence filter (same symptoms) — call your local repair man — replaced one on my TV for about 280$ toshiba 48″ made in 2003
